  sizedBibleatapricesosmallastoprecludetheideathatitcouldbringanyprofittothevendors。"
  Thecountenanceofthemaninblackslightlyfell。"Iknowthepeopletowhomyouallude,"saidhe;"indeed,unknowntothem,Ihavefrequentlybeentoseethem,andobservedtheirways。Itellyoufranklythatthereisnotasetofpeopleinthiskingdomwhohavecausedourchurchsomuchtroubleanduneasiness。Ishouldrathersaythattheyalonecauseusany;forasfortherest,whatwiththeirdrowsiness,theirplethora,theirfollyandtheirvanity,theyaredoingusanythingbutmischief。Thesefellowsareapestilentsetofheretics,whomwewouldgladlyseeburnt;theyare,withthemostuntiringperseverance,andinspiteofdiversminatorydeclarationsoftheholyfather,scatteringtheirbooksabroadthroughallEurope,andhavecausedmanypeopleinCatholiccountriestothinkthathithertotheirpriesthoodhaveendeavoured,asmuchaspossible,tokeepthemblinded。
  Thereisonefellowamongstthemforwhomweentertainaparticularaversion;abig,burlyparson,withthefaceofalion,thevoiceofabuffalo,andafistlikeasledge—
