  Amomentbefore,atthemomentwhenshehadliftedherarmstohisneck,shehadbeenwrappedinasenseofcompletesecurity。Allthespiritsofdoubthadbeenexorcised,andherlovewasoncemoretheclearhabitationinwhicheverythoughtandfeelingcouldmoveinblissfulfreedom。Andthen,assheraisedherfacetoDarrow’sandmethiseyes,shehadseemedtolookintotheveryruinsofhissoul。
  Thatwastheonlywayshecouldexpressit。Itwasasthoughheandshehadbeenlookingattwosidesofthesamething,andthesideshehadseenhadbeenalllightandlife,andhisaplaceofgraves……
