  "Neversawsucharesemblancebeforeinallmylife,"saidtheelderman。"’Ponmysoul!iftheKinghadn’tgotshavedyesterdaybecausethePrincessFlirtiasaidhisbeardtickledher,I’dswearitwashe!"

  Icreptupthepipe。AsIexpected,itopenedfunnel—wiseintoaroomwherethepoorKingwasplayingpokerwithBlackMichael。Ittookmebutamomenttodashthroughthewindowintotheroom,pushtheKingaside,gagandbindBlackMichael,andlowerhimbyastoutropeintothepipehehaddestinedforanother。Havinghiminmypower,IloweredhimuntilIheardhisbodysplashinthewaterinthelowerpartofthepipe。ThenIproceededtodrawhimupagain,intendingtoquestionhiminregardtoRupertofGlasgow。
