  and-whitestripedwatermelons,wasacircleofchairsfortheoldpeople;theyoungerguestssatonbushelmeasuresorbarbed-wirespools,andthechildrentumbledaboutinthehaymow。TheboxstallsClarahadconvertedintobooths。Theframeworkwashiddenbygoldenrodandsheavesofwheat,andthepartitionswerecovered’Withwildgrapevinesfulloffruit。AtoneoftheseJohannaVavrikawatchedoverhercookedmeats,enoughtoprovisionanarmy;
