  Contrarytosomecurrentnotions,itiscomfortablyevidentthattherewasaconsiderablefireofloyaltyinthePrussianstowardstheirKing,duringthisWar;loyaltykeptwellundercover,notwastingitselfinharanguesornoisyfroth;butcomingout,amongallranksofmen,inpracticalattemptstobeofhelpinthishighstruggle,whichwastheirownaswellashis。TheSTANDE,landedGentry,ofPommernandotherplaces,weheardoftheirpoorlittleNavyoftwelvegunboats,whichwerealltakenbytheSwedes。
  MilitiaRegimentstoo,whichdidgoodserviceatColberg,asmaytransientlyappearbyandby:——inthegentryorupperclasses,arespectablezealfortheirKing。Then,amongthepeasantryorlowerclass——HereareSevenHundredwhostoodwellwhereheplantedthem。
  AndtheirMothers——BeSpartanalso,yeMothers!Inpeaceabletimes,TempelhoftellsusthePrussianMotherisusuallyproudofhavinghersoninthisKing’sservice:acountrywifewillsaytoyou:"Ihavethreeofthem,allintheregiment,"Billerbeck,Itzenplitz,orwhateverbetheCantonregiment;"theeldestisteninches[standsfivefeetten],thesecondiseleven,thethirdeight,forindeedheisyetyoung。"
