  Suchapoet,itmaybe,mistswithsighsthewindowofhislifeuntilthetearsrundownit;thensomeairofsearchingpoetry,likeanairofsearchingfrost,turnsittoacrystalwonder。Thegodofgoldensongisthegod,too,ofthegoldensun;soperadventuresong—lightislikesunlight,anddarkensthecountenanceofthesoul。Perhapstheraysaretothestarswhatthornsaretotheflowers;andsothepoet,afterwanderingoverheaven,returnswithbleedingfeet。LesstragicinitsmerelytemporalaspectthanthelifeofKeatsorColeridge,thelifeofShelleyinitsmoralaspectis,perhaps,moretragicalthanthatofeither;hisdyingseemsamyth,afigureofhisliving;thematerialshipwreckafigureoftheimmaterial。
