  “Nebraskyandtheboyswastellin’methey’dmissedyu’off-therange,“againinterposedWiggin。“Say,Nebrasky,whohaveyu’
  offeredyourcanarytotheschoolmarmsaidyoumustn’tgiveher?“
  Nebraskygrinnedwretchedly。
  “Well,she’salady,andshe’ssquare,nottakin’aman’sgiftwhenshedon’ttaketheman。Butyou’doughttogetbackallthemlettersyu’wroteher。Yu’sureoughttoaskherforthemtell-tales。“
