  `You’llneverbeabletoseeyoursister,ifyoudon’ttakecareofyourself,’saidI,alittleprovokedatthecircumstanceonheraccount,insteadofcommiseratinghim。
  `I’veseenheralready,’saidhe,quietly。

  `No,itisnot:Iwishhertobehappy;butIdon’twishhertoforgetmealtogether。SheknowsitisimpossiblethatIshouldforgether;andsheisrighttowishmenottorememberhertoowell。Ishouldnotdesirehertoregretmetoodeeply;butIcanscarcelyimagineshewillmakeherselfveryunhappyaboutme,becauseIknowIamnotworthyofit,exceptinmyappreciationofher。’
