　　89。"Sincethepope，byhispardons，seeksthesalvationofsoulsratherthanmoney，whydoeshesuspendtheindulgencesandpardonsgrantedheretofore，sincethesehaveequalefficacy?"
　　90。Torepresstheseargumentsandscruplesofthelaitybyforcealone，andnottoresolvethembygivingreasons，istoexposetheChurchandthepopetotheridiculeoftheirenemies，andtomakeChristiansunhappy。
　　91。If，therefore，pardonswerepreachedaccordingtothespiritandmindofthepope，allthesedoubtswouldbereadilyresolved;nay，theywouldnotexist。
