  CaptainShadrachandZoeth,followingtheirniecetothestore,hadpeepedinandseenhersittingatthedesk,thesafeopen,andaccountbooksandpapersspreadoutbeforeher。AboardintheplatformcreakedbeneaththeCaptain’sweightytreadandMarylookedupandsawthem。Beforetheycouldretreatormakeuptheirmindswhattodo,shehadruntothedoor,thrownitopen,andorderedthemtocomein。Neitheranswered——theycouldnotatthemoment。
