Wepassedoverthatdreadful,bloodstainedplainwhere,underaflagoftruce,bothsideswereengagedinburyingthethousandsoftheirdead,andcametotheridgewhencewehadchargedontheyestermorn。
HeresentriesstoppedusandIdescendedfrommylitter。WhentheChancassawmeinmyarmourcomebacktothemalive,theysetupagreatshoutingandpresentlyIandthelordswithmewereledtothepavilionofKingHuaracha。
Wefoundhimlyingsickuponacouch,forthoughheshowednowoundhehadbeenbadlybruiseduponthebodybyablowfromUrco'scluband,asIfeared,washurtinthebowels。Hegreetedmewithdelight,sincehethoughtthatImighthavebeenkilledafterIwascaptured,andaskedhowIcametoappearinhiscampinthecompanyofourenemies。
ItoldhimatoncewhathadchancedandthatIwassworntoreturntoCuzcowhenIhaddonemybusiness。ThentheInca'sambassadorssetouttheirproposalsforatruce,andretired,whileHuarachadiscussedthemwithhisgeneralsandKari,whoalsowasoverjoyedtoseemesafe。
